RESEARCH GRANTS, HONORS AND AWARDS

  1. 2011 June 14th: Society for Education, Music and Psychology Resesarch – SEMPRE (UK) award of USD 5300. I sourced for funding for two of my PhD students in Maseno, Malachi ApudoAchola and JacquellineBulinda and I to present a seminar at the World Conference of The International Council of Traditional Music (ICTM) held in Newfoundland, Canada.
  1. 2012 April 30th: CIMO (Finland) Project Award of Euro 128,533. The first face of project to run from 2012-2014. Funding to cover:
  2. Student exchange Programme (so far 4 students from department of Music and Theatre have gone to Finland for a three months student exchange programme. Each student gets Euro 3100 (12,400 for the 4 students) covering their visa fee, travel cost, insurance, housing and subsistence allowance.
  3. Intensive course to be done in Maseno University in February 2014. Amount of Award is 7500 Euros)
  4. Teacher exchange. Two teachers from Maseno University have visited Finland for teacher exchange.

  1. 2012 March 7th: ORPAS (Netherlands) Scholarship Award. Three months Postgraduate Diploma Training Scholarship on Children Youth and Development at the Hague, Netherlands from 18th April 2012 to 29th June 2012. I as the PhD supervisor of Mrs Lillian Odero curved her PhD proposal to meet the requirements of the Scholarship which led to this scholarship Award. The grant covered full cost of study, living expenses in Netherlands, living allowance of 32 Euros per day, return ticket, health insurance, tuition fees, and visa fees and study material.
  1. 2014 July: July: Society for Education, Music and Psychology Resesarch – SEMPRE (UK) awarded a grant of 2000 Euros for travel and accommodation to attend and present papers at the ISME Research Commission and World conference in Porto Alegria, Brazil.
  • Center for international Mobility (CIMO) in Finland. I won a grant for the continuation of second face of UMODZI for the period of 1.6.2014–31.12.2015.

  • 2022-2024: PI of Hear-G Project on Strengthening the Capacities of Music Teachers to Teach Indigenous Instrumental Music and Dance Practices in Classroom Music Education in Kenya funded by United Nations Peace and Development Fund to the tune of USD 500,000.
  • I, together with Scholars from Politecnico di Torino, Italy won a bid for 2023 Erusmas+KA171 Credit Mobility with Partner Counties, for staff and students’ mobility for the years 2023-2026.
